Sand Canvas

Delila Bevan Zavadsky

The sea foam exhales

A fine mist across the horizon

The sand is lit up in hues of

Balmy blues and pearly pinks

Froth spills onto the shore

like the rim of an oyster

You walk slightly in front of me

Your voice carried on the wind

I watch as water rushes forward

To steal your footsteps

By night the tide will erase

Any traces of the day washing

Free embedded sorrows and frets

And offering up a blank canvas for us

To love and dream upon

With the rising sun
